The charred body of a 14-year-old girl was found in Seshego outside Polokwane in Limpopo on Sunday, more than two weeks after she was reported missing to police.
The girl’s disappearance last Monday was apparently the reason why the community burnt down the home of a 63-year-old woman accused of witchcraft. The community also accused the woman of having something to do with the girl’s disappearance.
Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo police spokesman, said Morongwa Marakalala, 14, had been missing since May 5. Her charred body was found on a hill in the Senwabarwana area outside Seshego on Sunday.
Mojapelo says it is not yet clear whether the murder of the girl can be linked to the 63-year-old woman whose house was burnt down.
Police have arrested 13 people involved in the arson.
