A 26-year-old woman from Cape Town sustained injuries to her face when a stone was thrown through the window of her car.
Karla Etzebeth was on her way home from work on Saturday in the early hours of the morning. She works as a restaurant manager at the V&A Waterfront and was on her way to her home in Bellville.
On the N1 shortly before the exit to Paarden Eiland, Etzebeth saw a stone lying on the main road.
“I drove slower and changed lanes and drove around the stone. Then I saw a little way forward that one whole track was packed with stones. I turned my car in reverse and it was then that the window on my side was thrown with a stone. “
The stone burst through the window and hit Etzebeth in her face. She managed to drive away. She saw at least four men.
“It was very dark as the lights on the road did not work. Fortunately, I had smash and grab on my window… otherwise I might be dead today. ”
Etzebeth says she drove back, changed lanes and drove back to the city.
“I don’t know how I managed it. If I didn’t, I would be dead. ”
Eztebeth reported the incident to the Bellville police station.
