A Grade 11 learner from Eastwood Secondary has sadly been stabbed and died in his mother’s arms, there was also another victim who was with the student that sustained injuries, in a critical condition and is currently fighting for his life.
The attack happened outside the school as many family and friends gathered round to investigate what had happened, once on lookers were aware of the situation and seeing the lifeless body the tension grew and the onlookers started to lash out towards the school staff.
The current motive is unclear right now however witnesses have mentioned that a female learner was previously stabbed with a pair of scissors and then the fellow learners confronted the female’s attacker and this is where the altercation started and resulted in two fatal stabbings.
This attack was not by one person and witnesses have mentioned that it was carried out by four other students at the school.
This gruesome attack happened just minutes away from the boys home, it did not take long for his mother to find out about the attack in which she then rushed to the school to be met with her son lifeless on the floor. She cradled the boy shouting at him to open his eyes in which there was no response as the boy had already passed away.
The crime scene investigators have secured the area to carry out their investigations, the Mountain Rise Police force have now launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Family members have spoken out about the attack and about the boy
“He was a caring affectionate boy who worked hard at school and had just received his term three results which confirmed he would have entered matric next year. He had so much going for him and even had just passed his learner driver’s test. He was the youngest in his family and would always be so affectionate to his mum. We will not rest until the perpetrators are arrested and face justice,” said the family member.
