Bitter cold weather on Tuesday caused snow in some parts of the country, including the Western and Northern Cape.
According to information from Storm Report SA , fine snow fell on Sutherland in the Northern Cape. This while the Kammanassie Mountains in the Little Karoo were covered with a snow blanket this morning.
Snow also fell in the Swartberg Pass, the Tradouw Pass and in the Matroosberg Nature Reserve in the vicinity of Ceres in the Western Cape.

NewsLiteSA reported earlier that the South African Weather Service had warned that temperatures across the country would drop significantly Monday and Tuesday. The weather service also predicted snow on the Western Cape mountains and the far southwestern parts of the Northern Cape.
Temperatures should start rising again by Wednesday, though widespread frost and cold can be expected over the interior.
