Police Minister Bheki Cele apologized on Sunday after a police officer allegedly abused the Prophet Muhammad’s name.

A video of the incident was spread on social media after police arrested a group of worshipers on April 25 in the Masibekela area in Mbuzini, Mpumalanga.

One of the police members can be heard telling the worshipers that they think “Muhammad is bigger than the president”.

Police are investigating the incident, while Cele apologized to the Muslim community.

Cele says they are trying to establish the identity of the police officer who made the remark.
