Western Cape police are searching for a woman who first gained the trust of a mother and then abducted one of her twin sons.
The woman presented herself as a welfare worker when she approached the mother of two-month-old twins at her home in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, on Wednesday. Andrè Traut, the provincial police spokesman, said.
“She asked the mother for the babies’ birth certificates and clinic cards. The woman returned the next day and went with her mother and two babies in a taxi to Parow, where her office would have been.
When the taxi stopped there, the woman got out of the taxi with one of the babies and fled.
Little Kwahlelo Tiwane has not yet been found.
Traut asked the public’s help to help the mother be reunited with her baby.
