A man (36) and a woman (35) who tried to bribe a Free State detective are now behind bars with their four accomplices.
Brig. Motantsi Makhele, police spokesperson, says two offered money to release their four friends who were arrested on Monday after a business robbery.
Myburgh was also asked to destroy the dossier.
The four allegedly robbed the Exact store in Senekal of cellphones, other electronic goods and clothes worth R260 000 and were caught shortly afterwards at a house in Bethlehem, where the loot was still hidden in a getaway car.
Makhele says Myburgh, after the husband and wife approached him, told them to come back later that day. Myburgh then arranged with other police officers to arrest the two.
Makhele says the two bribes arrived in Senekal around 18:00 on Thursday and got into a police vehicle near Myburgh and handed over the bribe money.
Myburgh counted the money and gave two detectives a signal to strike, after which the man and woman were arrested.
Makhele says a Ford EcoSport with Gauteng number plates, which the two were driving, was also confiscated by the police.
