Labor Minister Thembelani “Thulas” Nxesi was admitted to hospital on Monday after testing positive for Covid-19. He is the second minister to be admitted within 24 hours due to the new coronavirus.
It has been previously reported that Gwede Mantashe, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, was also admitted to hospital on Monday night due to Covid-19.
According to a statement issued by the cabinet, Nxesi tested positive for Covid-19 a week ago and has been in quarantine at home ever since. “His hospital admission follows the recommendation of his doctors so that he can have access to better medical care,” said Cabinet spokeswoman Phumla Williams.
“We wish Ministers Mantashe and Nxesi both a speedy recovery.”
