The ANC Party was expected to see thousands of attendants however the anticipated numbers were hugely overestimated.
Looking at the photo’s provided by Carl Niehaus it’s clear to see that something is not quite right. The photos were taken early on and reports have been made that the stands did fill but the pitch area looked no different.
I am saying this as a loyal, but very concerned member of @MYANC. Where were our people? This was the smallest crowd I have ever seen at a #January8 rally, & their response was so muted ?. The writing is on the wall, we better get our act together quickly before it is too late. pic.twitter.com/vgrIpXntKk— Carl Niehaus (@niehaus_carl) January 11, 2020
Speculation of the poor turn out is due to the fact that many South African’s do not feel like they have a voice. They are feeling like they wake up with issues that have existed for years. They are expressing the opinion of ‘Why would we want to party with the elite’
Unemployment, load shedding, very very poor service delivery, corruption and looting of public funds meant for the poor, failing health system. One can go on and on, and you expect citizens (even your supporters) to come and have a nice time with the elite in your party. Get real— milo_12john.
