The ANC condemns the US air strikes in which Kassem Soleimani of Iran has died.
The ANC sees it as an aggressive act that could plunge the Middle East and the whole world into a full-scale war. The ANC, by secretary-general Ace Magashule, said the US attacks were considered ” an “inhumane incident” and an attack on the sovereignty and right of self-determination of the Iranian people.
“The ANC rejects the aggression against the people of Iran.” History shows most victims of this kind of international terrorism are the elderly, women and children. Young people also suffer because they are displaced from where they live and face a dark future, “according to Magashule’s statement.
The ANC calls for the United Nations to act firmly and quickly against” this type of terrorism ” those involved in the conflict will give peace a chance. Magsahule says the ANC rejects right-wing, populist and unilateral actions that undermine collective international decision-making.
“We reiterate our call on the international community and progressive people of the world to protect any nation from economic sanctions, military attacks and disrespect of territorial integrity and sovereignty,” says Magashule.
