Police launch a manhunt for a senseless killing that occurred early hours of this morning on a 64-year-old taxi driver.
The Taxi driver, Nkwatle Salthiel Tau, who lived in Ga-Rantho village was at home asleep with his wife when an unknown attacker smashed a window of their property around 01:40 am and fired multi shots through.
The wife managed to escape unharmed, and so did the suspect as it’s been reported he fled the scene immediately.
Police and Medical teams attended the scene swiftly and confirmed that Tau received a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The reason for the killing is not yet known but police have said they cannot out rule taxi violence at this stage.
At this stage of the investigation, no suspects have been found or arrested but the hunt continues, Ltnt General Nneke Ledwaba has said that “perpetrators be hunted down and brought to the book.”
