Six men were arrested Friday night at a tavern in Alexandra, Johannesburg, several hours after Isabel van Coller was shot dead at a traffic light.
56-year-old Van Coller, an accountant for Emer-G-Med Ambulance Service, stopped with her Kia at a traffic light on the corner of Dublin and Cunning Street in Bramley, north Johannesburg, at approximately 5:24 on Friday morning.
CCTV footage shows she was shot in the head and flung from her car before the men sped off with the vehicle. Her body was left in the road.
“Police immediately put a response plan in place and received information that they were at a tavern in 4th Avenue in Alexandra on Friday night,” said police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters said on Saturday.
“Six men have been arrested linked to the murder and hijacking,” Peters said.
“These men may also be linked to three other robberies in October at businesses in the Bramley and Alexandra area. Police are looking for another six men involved in the robberies.
The six men arrested at the tavern will appear in Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Monday, ”Peters said.
