Three dangerous trial awaits escaped from police cells at Tinmyne outside Mokopane in Limpopo early Wednesday morning.
These escapes are not the first at this police station. Six prisoners also mysteriously escaped from Tinmyne police cells in November but were later arrested again.
Brig. Motlafela Mojapelo, Limpopo police spokesman, says an internal investigation will be conducted to determine whether police officers helped the three men escape around 1:45 on Wednesday.
Mojapelo said Moses Kgathola Kekae, 34, is facing two charges of murder and charges of attempted murder, theft and assault.
“He is extremely dangerous and allegedly assaulted and killed his own mother last year.”
In October 2019, when he was arrested, Kekae attacked a police captain and a sergeant with a knife.
Philip Chokwe, 35, who was in custody for alleged rape, escaped with Kekae.
The third man to escape Wednesday is William Motshudi, 20, who was arrested on charges of housebreaking and theft.
The three men were scheduled to appear in Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on Friday, Tuesday and Thursday respectively.
A huge search is underway for the three escapes.
Meanwhile, Lucky Mashava, 25, a Zimbabwean who escaped from Hlanganani police cells outside Giyani last week, is still at large.
Mashava is charged with nine serious offenses involving homicide, robbery, business robbery and burglary in Giyani homes. He allegedly committed the offenses between June 2018 and February this year.
Mojapelo says the public should not try to arrest any of the escapees.
