The woman was arrested on Tuesday in the Mdeni settlement in Dutywa shortly after her baby was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
According to police information, the woman was at a home on Tuesday morning. A family member noticed bruises on the baby’s torso around 05:00 and rushed him to the Dutywa Health Center.
Capt. However, Jackson Manatha, a police spokesman, said the baby was already dead by the time he arrived at the hospital.
