Pres. Donald Trump of America is the fourth US president in history to be officially charged with impeachment.
Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives announced Tuesday that they are accusing Trump of abusing power and that he is undermining Congress. This is the only two charges that pulled through from a list of others that were brought up in the hearings.
American Democrats were strongly relying on the public to see if impeachment would be the way going forward, denying the fact that most Americans do not support impeachment, the Democrats are still pushing forward.
The Democrats did not allow the Republicans to call any witnesses.
The Democrats’ attempt to remove Trump from office as the president does not mean it will be successful, as at least 20 Republicans in the Senate, where Republicans are the majority, must vote in favor of the move.
No Republican in the Senate has yet indicated that they will vote “yes” at all. Even some Democrats indicated that they will not vote “yes”.
The Senate may also decide to hold a full hearing first or vote immediately once congressmen from the House of Representatives have made their case.
The House of Representatives is only going to vote next Tuesday to formally bring the charges.
The allegations against Trump come after a whistleblower emerged in September, however, the whistleblower was not called as part of the evidence and the Democrats refused to answer any question relating to the whistleblower.
Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff were also implicated in fabricating evidence against Donald Trump.
Former president. Bill Clinton was indicted in 1998 after lying about a sexual relationship with an intern in the White House, but was released in the Senate.
