Early hours of this afternoon on the N3, various artists took to the roads in protest regarding strict lockdown regulations which are believed to be affecting their profession.

In protest, they blockaded the N3 highway and started to perform and play music through their loud speakers.

Last month, President Cyril Ramaphosa had announced that the country would be placed on Level 2 lockdown and following this restaurants, bars and taverns could operate as long as they followed strict protocols. The music event industry were displeased by this and they still have the curfew applied and cannot fully operate, leading to job losses and loss of earnings for artists.

Police were fast to respond as traffic on the N3 came to a standstill causing major disruptions for road users.

It has been reported that numerous members have been arrested and Police were forced to use stun grenades and rubber bullets.
