An elderly North West man was killed in a sheep pen on his farm on Sunday.
Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson said they stabbed the farmer with a sharp object.
His wife, 66, was severely assaulted and was hospitalized.
Myburgh says the five suspects arrived at the farm at 5.30 pm and told the couple they wanted to buy sheep.
“The suspects, three men, and two women went to the pen with the couple to choose sheep. They were then apparently overpowered by the suspects. Some of the suspects took the woman to their farmhouse and insisted opening the safe, while the others tied the man in the pen, ”says Myburgh.
The couple’s son, 43, was apparently in another pen when he saw the suspects running.
He found his father’s body in the sheepfold.
Myburgh says it is not yet known if the suspects stole anything, but a case of murder and farm attack has been opened.
No one has been arrested yet.
