A suspected farm murderer who allegedly killed an elderly farmer on his farm in Settlers in Limpopo about 11 years ago, was arrested on Tuesday night.
Oscar Mashiloane (42) is suspected of entering Hannes Prinsloo’s (84) farm in the Kalkbult district in Settlers 11 years and seven months ago and strangling him with a tie. He also allegedly stole cash and cellphones.
Mashiloane was linked to the murder after his fingerprints were found at the scene.
Detectives from Bosveld Crime Investigations (BMO) worked with the Bela-Bela detective service and the police’s crime intelligence unit in Modimolle to catch the fugitive after all these years.
According to Sakkie Louwrens, founder of BMO, Mashiloane was arrested on Tuesday evening at 23:50 in a corrugated iron house in Stoffelpark, Mamelodi.
Mashiloane appeared in Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges of murder and armed robbery. He will remain in custody until he appears in court again next Wednesday.
