Eskom begs consumers to use power sparingly on Wednesday night after two more of its generating units suddenly failed.
Eskom said in a statement in addition to the four units that broke down at three coal-fired power stations on Tuesday, two more – one at Medupi and one at Matimba – broke down on Wednesday.
Eskom says loadshedding is now in the hands of South Africans to control their power usage.
Eskom says it is working hard to repair the failed units, but it also warned on Tuesday that the risk of load shedding will remain high until the weekend when it expects most of the necessary repairs to be completed.
However, Eskom lost three units at the Lethabo, Majuba and Kendal power stations due to pollution.
